LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A major component for chemical users in Australia is awareness of the relevant State/ Territory legislation that is applicable to them. To assist with this requirement the following links are the respective guidelines for each State/ Territory in Australia.
Chemical User Accreditation to a minimum AQF Level 2 is mandatory for most commercial users of agricultural and veterinary chemicals in NSW and other states/ territories. Accreditations are valid for a 5 year period and as a result users must accredit every 5 years to remain current. The requirement in NSW applies to the commercial use of chemicals not the purchase (some exceptions apply).
On successful completion of assessments participants will be issued both a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment and a Chemqual Accreditation card. This qualification is valid for 5 years.
Units of competency: AHCCHM101 Follow basic chemical safety rules AHCCHM201 Apply chemicals under supervision AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals for control of pests, weeds and diseaes AHCCHM304 Transport, handle and store chemicals
Participants must have access to the internet to register, access training and assessment material, and to submit documents.
Allocated completion time is 4-6 hours, this is dependent upon participants experience and learning abilities. Assistance is available throughout to ensure participants have a high level of training throughout.
